Downpours may be heavy enough to produce localized flooding along the Delmarva Peninsula. A wedge of dry air will hang on from New England to the central Appalachians.

To the west, a slow-moving system will douse areas from the Upper Midwest to the Tennessee Valley and Deep South with rain and thunderstorms.

There is the potential for severe weather in part of the interior Southeast. Sunny, seasonable conditions are in store for the northern Plains, while intense heat continues to sear the South Central states.

This heat will spread into the Southwest as early as Sunday. Spotty storms will dot the highest terrain out West.
