Showers and storms will also dot the Midwest and western Great Lakes region as a separate storm system dives southeastward through the northern tier of the U.S.

Behind this storm, gusty winds will accompany a blast of unseasonably chilly air settling into the Upper Midwest and northern Plains.

Elsewhere, dry and warm weather is forecast from the southern Plains to the Deep South, while summerlike heat builds into the Pacific Northwest and continues to bake the Four Corners region.
