Weather across the nation on May 21, 2019

Sunshine and warmer air will return to the Northeast and mid-Atlantic tomorrow, while summerlike heat continues to bake the Southeast and lower Mississippi Valley.

The same storm system that brought a severe weather outbreak and flooding downpours to the southern Plains and south-central United States earlier in the week will bring rainy and raw weather to the northern Plains and Upper Midwest.

Another storm system barreling across the West will keep chilly, showery weather entrenched across the region.

Some snow will even fly in the highest elevations of the Rockies, but dry conditions will return to the California coastline.

Elsewhere, showers and thunderstorms will dot areas from the eastern Great Lakes and Ohio Valley to central Oklahoma and northeastern Texas.
