Weather across the nation on November 20, 2018

A blast of bitterly cold air will dive into the Northeast tomorrow and be accompanied by snow showers and heavy, lake-effect snow squalls.

The winterlike air is also forecast to freeze the Great Lakes region and Upper Midwest. Rain will bring much-needed relief to firefighters battling the numerous, deadly blazes still raging across California.

The wet weather will also extend northward into the Pacific Northwest, and heavy snow is expected to bury the Sierra Nevada and parts of the Cascades. Showers and drizzle will dampen parts of southeastern Texas.

Dry and tranquil weather will grace the rest of the nation, but any warm air will be confined to the Florida Peninsula. In general, unseasonably cool air will grip the vast majority of the nation.
