ALERT | High Wind Warning: Gusts could reach 65 mph

Be careful out there!

A High Wind Warning has been issued for several Northeast Ohio counties effective Sunday morning.

The Warning begins at 7 a.m. Sunday and is currently set to expire at 7 a.m. Monday.

Counties affected by the watch include: 

  • Ashtabula
  • Carroll
  • Columbiana
  • Coshocton
  • Cuyahoga
  • Erie
  • Geauga
  • Holmes
  • Huron
  • Lake
  • Lorain
  • Mahoning
  • Medina
  • Portage
  • Stark
  • Summit
  • Trumbull
  • Tuscarawas
  • Wayne

Here's what you need to know from the National Weather Service:

* TIMING...Sunday morning through Monday morning.

* WINDS...West 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph with the  strongest winds likely along the lakeshore of Lake Erie.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Wind Warning is issued when sustained winds of 40 mph or stronger is expected...with gusts of 58 mph or more. Secure all loose property. Damage to trees...power lines and property is likely. High profile vehicles can be blown over.
