Winter Weather Advisory activated for some Northeast Ohio counties due to lake effect snow: Here's how much you can expect

Be careful out there! ODOT says they are monitoring pavement temperatures for potential refreeze.

CLEVELAND — Our wintry week continues as we track lake effect snow amid another Winter Weather Advisory that's impacting a handful of counties within Northeast Ohio.

The Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect until 7 a.m. Friday for the following counties:

  • Ashtabula
  • Cuyahoga
  • Geauga
  • Lake

The advisory began at 11 p.m. Wednesday.

3News meteorologist Hollie Strano said some spots within the advisory area could see upwards of 6+ inches of snow by Friday morning. Others could see 1-3 inches.

“Even if you’re not under the advisory – like if you’re in Lorain County, for example, or Summit or Medina – you could still see some snow showers," Strano explains.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland says drivers should plan on slippery road conditions.

"The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute," according to NWS.

ODOT crews have been out working to keep the roads safe with 935 crews working statewide as of 4:18 a.m. Thursday.

"Snow will make travel in NE Ohio challenging, so plan ahead," ODOT tweeted. "We're also monitoring pavement temperatures for refreeze. Be extra alert on bridges and overpasses."

Temperatures will hover in the low 30s throughout the day.
