Action Comic releases 1,000th issue, celebrating Superman after 80 years

For 80 years, Superman has been the definitive hero for America and the world over.

It's a bird. It's a plane. It's Superman.

For 80 years, Superman has been the definitive hero for America and the world over.

And it all began with the first issue of a comic book called Action Comics. The comic book was created by two Cleveland natives, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

On Wednesday, DC Comics published Action Comics number one thousand; an unprecedented milestone.

Mike Olszewski from Siehel and Shuster Society and Michael Sangiacomo from the Plain Dealer joined Jim Donovan to talk Superman, his Cleveland roots and his place in pop culture.
