Swensons to open new location in North Olmsted

Galley Boy goodness is coming to the west side.

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio -- Swensons is expanding yet again.

The iconic burger chain is building a new location at the corner of Lorain and Dover Center roads in North Olmsted.

Construction began Monday with plans to open sometime this summer, marking the company’s ninth location.

The drive-in joint has been an Akron staple for decades.

“For anybody who grew up in the Akron area they kind of know it, but for anybody who's unfamiliar with the drive-in experience, this is all curbside dining,” Swensons spokesperson Crystal Griffith told WKYC when the chain opened its University Heights restaurant earlier this year.

Known for its signature Galley Boy, which is a double cheeseburger smothered in two sauces, Swensons is consistently ranked among America's best burger spots. It's even a favorite of Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James.

Vegetarian? They serve what's known as a Salad Boy. The menu describes it as “A delicious vegetable burger topped lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, melted cheese and two special sauces served on a whole wheat bun.”

Last year, the Swensons food truck dropped by WKYC's studios to show what it takes to grill up their famous Galley Boy sandwich. Here's a look back at that visit:
