Teen shot near Cleveland's Charles Dickens Elementary School

CLEVELAND — Cleveland's Charles Dickens Elementary School was placed on lockdown on Thursday after a shooting took place nearby.

The Cleveland Division of Police tells 3News that an 18-year-old girl was shot in the buttocks. Officers also placed one man under arrest. 

A spokesperson for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District adds that no children were hurt as a result of the shooting, which did not take place on school property. After school tutoring on Thursday at Dickens Elementary was canceled.

CMSD is providing counseling for any children who were upset by the experience.
