GoFundMe page asks for help for Army veteran shot and robbed in Cleveland

So far, the GoFundMe has raised more than $1,000 for his medical expenses.

A man shot near Cleveland's Agora Theatre Thursday is apparently a U.S. Army combat veteran, and now his family is asking for help with his treatments.

A GoFundMe for Chris DeMund was created by his sister. Police say DeMund was walking on Euclid Ave. near East 36th St. when he confronted someone following and was shot in the stomach and robbed of his cell phone.

DeMund's sister wrote the bullet "pierced other vital organs such as his pancreas," and that he has suffered nerve damage and is currently unable to move his leg. He underwent surgery and is currently in the ICU at MetroHealth Medical Center, although doctors believe he will soon be removed.

According to the post, DeMund served in the Army and was injured in combat. He makes his presnet living as a photographer, but at the moment "has no source of income."

So far, the GoFundMe has raised more than $1,000 for DeMund's medical expenses. Police have not named any suspects in his shooting.
