School testing statewide hits snag

Teachers were reporting that the system, provided by the American Institutes for Research also known as (AIR), had "crashed" and prevented them from testing.

Login Failed.Unable to test.

That was the message hundreds of school districts across Ohio were experiencing Wednesday.

Chagrin falls, Lakewood middle school, Copley, and North Royalton were just a few districts who had to reschedule testing for students.

Teachers were reporting that the system, provided by the American Institutes for Research also known as (AIR), had "crashed" and prevented them from testing.

The Ohio Department of Education and AIR later confirmed that the system did not "crash," but was simply having issues with students logging in.

Principal Rob Winton at Rocky River high school was also affected by the glitch, but says that’s why there’s a 3-week window for students to take the test.

Students actively testing were not impacted by this issue.

“The login system issue is now resolved and has been tested to confirm the fix. Districts may resume testing on Thursday, April 19. Districts are encouraged to complete their English language arts (ELA) testing within the original window. For those districts that need additional time to complete testing, the statewide ELA test window has been extended by two days, through May 1.”

Those schools that wish to test during the additional two days should notify the Department by Wednesday, April 25.
