Calling back to the Black Lives Matter protests that occurred across the country following the killing of George Floyd last summer, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry noted the differences in the criticism that those demonstrations received. The five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver also stated his belief that if it were black people storming the U.S. Capitol, they "wouldn't have even made it down the street."

"Glaring Difference Between A Peaceful Protest And This!!!!!" Landry posted on Twitter. "I Couldn’t imagine How Many Of Our People Would Be Hurt By Now."

"We Wouldn’t Have Even Made It Down The Street!!!!" he wrote in another post.

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love shared a similar sentiment, calling the response to Wednesday's events a "blatant example of inequity."

"An absolute disgrace what’s happening at the US Capitol right now," Love wrote. "And a blatant example of inequity in how law enforcement chooses to deal with those involved."

The storming of the U.S. Capitol came as Congress was in the process of certifying Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 Presidential Election. Prior to the protest, President Trump held a spoke to his supporters at a rally just outside the White House, in which he stated "we will never concede" the results of the election.

At least one person has been shot inside the Capitol during Wednesday's unrest.
