FORECAST | Pushing Record Highs Today

Strong storm potential in the forecast

CLEVELAND — Another summery day is ahead with hazy sunshine and temps pushing the upper 80s. Our record high today is set at 89 from back in 1941 and we certainly could tie or even break that record with a day full of sunshine. We'll have to watch for a few pop-up storms this afternoon in the heating of the day.

Pushing Records Today

We'll clear out tonight with lows dropping back into the upper 60s to low 70s. It will be a rather muggy, air conditioning ON kind of night.

Attention then turns towards an approaching frontal boundary on Wednesday. This front will bring drier, more comfortable air by late week, but out ahead of it we have a storm chance and some of these storms could be strong to severe later Wednesday. The big question right now is IF these storms can even get going. We'll have a large line of storms pushing in from the west Wednesday morning. This line will fade and should bring us nothing more than an interval of clouds with some leftover raindrops. Our atmosphere should recover just fine so we'll have the instability--but we also need something to trigger the storms and that's the big question right now.

Today's Severe Threat

Either way, the potential is there for strong storms Wednesday if they can develop. As a result an Impact Weather Day is posted. The going timeline is Wednesday evening between 6 PM - 12 AM Thursday. If storms develop the main threats will be hail and damaging winds.

THE 3 DAY FORECAST

TUESDAY: Hazy sunshine with stray PM pop-up storms. Upper 80s.

WEDNESDAY: Sun and clouds with a few storms. Some could be strong. Mid 80s.

THURSDAY: Sun with high clouds. Lingering storm chances mainly south. Upper 70s.
