While retailers know that "Black Friday" is dedicated to in-store shoppers, the Monday following the Thanksgiving holiday has become "Cyber Monday," as people shop online that day from their offices for items they couldn't or didn't get over the weekend.

A BIGresearch survey, conducted for Shop.org, predicted that 70 percent of people ages 18 to 34 with Internet access will shop from work Monday, and a higher percentage of men (60.3 percent) planned to shop from work than women (51.5 percent).

Online deals are there for the taking.

There's even a Web site dedicated solely to Monday's online shopping so go to www.cybermonday.com for easy, one-stop shopping for deals and coupons.

In 2007, consumers spent $733 million on Cyber Monday and it's expected to be even bigger this year.

Another Web site has a sneak peek at the Cyber Monday online ads if you go to www.dealio.com right now.

According to a survey by online shopping site Shopzilla for the National Retail Federation's www.shop.org site, nearly 84 percent of online retailers plan to have a Cyber Monday promotion on December 1.

That's up from just 72 percent last year and zero percent in 2005, says Shop.org executive director Scott Silverman.

It was Silverman's site that actually invented Cyber Monday in late 2005 as a gimmick to jump-start online sales in the holiday season.

The Cyber Monday web site is part of Silverman's site and all proceeds from items purchased on the Cyber Monday site go to the Ray M. Greenly Scholarship Fund.

Greenly was part of the shop.org staff who died of cancer in 2005. The scholarship provides financial support to students pursuing careers in the e-commerce industry.
