DELRAY BEACH, Florida -- Residents of a Florida neighborhood say they're burdened by bees, and they're blaming their builder.
Ted Vorhees is one of twelve residents of a single Delray Beach development whose home has been overrun by bees.
A beekeeper removed thousands of the buzzing bugs from his wall two months ago, but the bees quickly came back.
The president of the local homeowner's association says that reason the bees are such a problem can be traced to construction shortcuts taken by the developer that built the neighborhood.
"When D.R. Horton built these homes and just about every building they left a gap where the drywall and the roof meet on the second floor they left a gap about one inch by three inches," says Mitch Katz.
D.R Horton hasn't commented on the situation, but Katz says they're refusing to take any measures to fix the gaps letting the bees in.
"I showed him around he looked at the holes he admitted they shouldn't be there but said they will not take responsibility for it".
The bee-burdened residents say they plan to picket outside of D.R. Horton's newest nearby project in order to draw more attention to their predicament.
