CLEVELAND -- The boy who police are calling the shooter in the shootings at SuccessTech High School was no stranger to the police.
Asa Coon, the young boy who police say was the shooter and responsible for the chaos at SuccessTech has been in and of the court system. But the reason police cars were at his home Wednesday was to tell his mother what happened. Obviously she is too distraught so were other family members who rushed to the home when they got the news.
Neighbors say the family has lived on W. 48th for a couple of years and never saw the teen with a gun.
According to court records, back in 1998 Asa was involved in a neglect case. The details are unclear but social workers say Asa who was around five at the time had burns on different parts of his body. In 2006, Asa was brought into juvenile court facing domestic violence charges. He ended up in a juvenile detention home and later was given probation and home monitoring.
No one says they saw anything like this coming, especially the woman who lives across the street. But ?quiet? is not how classmates describe Asa. They say they witnessed a fight Asa was involved in on Monday.
Others described the teen as a loner without friends. Students say they had heard the teen make threats, but never thought there was anything of substance to them.
