iAlert FAQ

How do the listings work?

Morning closings will be cleared from the system at 9:35 a.m. Afternoon closings will be cleared from system at 7:35 p.m. Schools are instructed to call after 8 p.m. for next day closings

Rule of thumb: If you see something before 9:35 a.m. it's for today -- if it's after 9:35 a.m. it's for the afternoon/evening of today. Before 7:35 p.m. it's for today. If it's after 7:35 p.m. it's for tomorrow.

Both WKYC and WTAM newsrooms operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you call, your information is instantaneously sent to our control room computers for broadcast on-air and on the web.

How do I make sure I'm seeing the latest iAlerts?

Every three minutes we send the latest school closings to the iAlert page.

If you don't refresh the screen, it will do so automatically after 10 minutes.

If you want to make sure that you are seeing the latest, hold down the "Shift" key and click your browser's "Refresh" button for the latest update.
