Michael Symon to help you cook through ‘cooped up’ conditions amid coronavirus

The Cleveland native will showcase live cooking demonstrations using everyday pantry ingredients.

CLEVELAND — With many grocery store shelves emptied amid growing concerns of the coronavirus, have you been wondering what you’re going to make for dinner in the days ahead?

Chef Michael Symon is here to help everyone who is "cooped up in their homes."

Starting Monday, the Cleveland native will be hosting live cooking segments on the Food Network Kitchen Facebook page to help “get through this crazy situation.”

“I want to help by showing you all how to turn everyday pantry ingredients into amazing dishes at home,” he said.

His 10-day cooking tutorials will focus on some of his favorite pantry recipes using random ingredients you probably already have at home.

“These are going to be simple recipes -- anywhere from 10 to 30 minute recipes,” Symon explained. “I’ll cook them with you in real time. We’ll get food on the table for our friends and family. We’ll get through this together, you guys. Let’s cook! I’ll show you how to work through your pantry and get a little bit of normalcy back in our life.”

But what if you don’t have the ingredients he’s using?

“We’ll put the recipe up the day before so you can get those ingredients if you do not have them,” he said. “When we’re going through it you can ask me questions live. I can tell you things you can substitute and how to make it easier for you.”

Symon’s special cooking segments begin Monday, March 16 at 5 p.m.
