Job openings in Northeast Ohio during the coronavirus outbreak

Many jobs in the area have been put on hold, but these places are still hiring

CLEVELAND — Due to the coronavirus pandemic, millions of jobs across the nation and many right here in Northeast Ohio are at risk. Many employers are reducing hours, forcing employees to take unpaid leave and even terminating employment. Especially hard hit are those working in the travel, leisure and hospitality industries.

However, during this crisis, there are industries and companies locally that are in need of your help.

Distillata Water

Due to the coronavirus, there is an extremely high need for water in Cleveland. Distillata is looking for three people to temporarily assist with labor in the warehouse. This is a physically demanding job that requires you to be on your feet and lifting heavy objects for the majority of the day.

If you've been to the store lately, you might have had a hard time finding things like hand sanitizer. Gojo, the makers of Purell are looking to fill over 40 positions.

Instacart

Instacart is a grocery delivery service. For those practicing social distancing, mobile and online orders are becoming a more viable option. You can apply to shop for others at shoppers.instacart.com

Amazon

Amazon is opening 100,000 new full and part-time positions across the U.S. in their fulfillment centers - including more than 4,000 in Ohio. The online retail giant is trying to meet the surge in demand from the coronavirus.

FedEx and UPS

FedEx and UPS are both hiring. The delivery companies are trying to keep up with demand. 

Fedex is trying to fill more than 70 jobs across Northeast Ohio, while UPS is trying to fill 50 spots.

Walmart and Marc's

Grocery store's in the area are still open across the county, and here in Ohio, Walmart and Marc's are looking to fill positions. You can check out Walmart's openings on their careers page. Polychem

Polychem makes packing materials like plastic straps, cords, and buckles.

Discount Drug Mart

Discount Drug Mart says it is hiring at all of its 76 stores statewide. This is an opportunity for those who have had their hours cut or college students who are home. They are looking to fill multiple positions per store. Over 250 jobs in all are available.

The company offers services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and is looking for Direct Support Care Professionals. Training is provided and pay is $14/hr.

Multiple work locations are available in Cuyahoga and Summit counties.
