CLEVELAND — Every sixth month of the year, Pride month is nationally recognized, honoring members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) community.
President Joe Biden began the month by issuing a proclamation that recognized the month as LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
"Pride is a time to recall the trials the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) community has endured and to rejoice in the triumphs of trailblazing individuals who have bravely fought -- and continue to fight -- for full equality," the proclamation read.
In the days that followed, as a sponsor of "Pride in the CLE" WKYC aired a special broadcasting of the event.
In hopes of advancing of the conversation, Wednesday night, we presented our latest A Turning Point panel discussion focused on our Northeast Ohio LGBT community and the new school that just opened inside the Center, School of One.
3News Digital Reporter, Kierra Cotton, moderated the discussion. Our panelists were:
- Gulnar Feerasta, Program Director of the LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland
- Claudia Longo, a parent with a student enrolled at the School of One located inside the LGBT Center
