Ohio BCI investigating officer-involved shooting in Perkins Township

The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave, in accordance with the department's standard policy.

ERIE COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place in Perkins Township.

According to Perkins Township Police officials, the shooting happened on Tuesday, Jan. 3, after the Perkins Police Department, City of Sandusky Police Department and Erie County Sheriff's Office were all on the scene. 

An officer fired shots after a police "interaction" with Dominic Grant. Grant was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center for medical treatment. 

At this time, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is criminally investigating the shooting and the City of Lorain Police Department is handling the internal investigation. 

According to Perkins Township Police Department, the officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with the department's standard policy.
