List: What businesses are essential under Gov. DeWine's 'stay-at-home order'

The order requires all Ohioans to stay inside their home and closes all non-essential businesses.

OHIO, USA — On Sunday, Gov. Mike DeWine and Director of the Ohio Health Department, Amy Acton issued a "stay-at-home" order for all Ohioians. 

The order requires all Ohioans to stay inside their home and closes all non-essential businesses. 

Following the announcement during Sunday's press briefing, many are asked 'what is an essential business?'

3News has complied a list of businesses and industries classified as essential based on the 23-page order issued by state officials: 

  • Health care and public health workers
  • Law enforcement, public safety, first responders
  • Food and Agriculture
  • Energy( i.e. electricians, petroleum workers, etc.) 
  • Water and wastewater 
  • Transportation and logistics
  • Public works
  • Communications and Information Technology
  • Community bases-government operations and essential functions
  • Critical Manufacturing
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Financial Services
  • Chemical 
  • Defense Industrial Base

The order will remain in effect through at least April 6. At that time, state officials will re-evaluate and determine if an extension is necessary.

As of Sunday afternoon, the Ohio Department of Health has confirmed that there are now 351 cases of coronavirus confirmed in the state as of Sunday afternoon. Of those cases, 83 have required hospitalizations. The number of deaths remains at three.
