Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced on Friday that he has issued an order prohibiting visitors from community jails and community corrections facilities throughout the state.
DeWine's order comes as the result of concerns over spreading the coronavirus (COVID-19). He also asked that protocols be put into place to screen vendors and contractors.
As of Friday, Ohio has found 13 positive cases of the coronavirus, along with 50 negative cases and 159 cases still pending. DeWine said an uptick in positive cases is expected as testing increases.
DeWine's order comes one day after he issued an order prohibiting mass gatherings of 100 or more people. Additionally, K-12 schools across Ohio will be closed for three weeks beginning on Monday, March 16.
