This Saturday, The Word Church is partnering with the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, the Ohio E-Check, and the City of Warrensville Heights to host a free COVID-19 vaccination distribution to those in the Phase 1A and Phase 1B Groups.

The event will be held at The Word Church’s main campus, located at 18909 South Miles Road, Warrensville Heights, Ohio, from 2:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Vaccinations are provided by appointment to those in the Phase 1A and Phase 1B groups only, and registration is required. For eligibility requirements and to register, those interested should visit the Cuyahoga County Board of Health website.

Dr. R. A. Vernon, founder and senior pastor of The Word Church, is planning to receive his vaccination on Saturday as part of an effort to reassure the black community, particularly those who have a historical hesitation to getting vaccinated and have expressed distrust based on current health disparities and inequities, that it is safe and wise to get vaccinated.

“I think if I can encourage some of those who may have reservations—understandably so—by demonstrating my willingness to take the vaccine, it will go a long way to helping protect our community-at-large by reducing the spread of the virus,” says Dr. Vernon.
