As we continue to alert you to scams hitting Northeast Ohio, there's an easy one to fall for this time of year. Be on the lookout for fake delivery notices.
The Cuyahoga County Scam Squad says scammers will leave a notice on your front door, or send you a phony email that looks like it's from the Post office claiming you missed a package.
The problem is they either ask for personal information, or once you click on it, you could end up putting a virus on your computer that tracks everything you are doing online.
"Credit card number, date of births, anything you use that computer for the information can be obtained from that malware," according to Kevin Andrezejcak of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
The important thing to remember is you will never get an email from the post office if you missed a package.
