2 Sunday morning fires in Akron remain under investigation

There were no injuries in either incident. Both remain under investigation by the Akron Fire Department

AKRON, Ohio — In the early hours of Sunday morning, two separate residential buildings in the city of Akron experienced fires.

The first took place at the 1000 block of  Wyley Avenue. Akron fire crews responded to calls of a "loud boom" that came from the structure. Responding fire crews found the one and half story building fully engulfed in flames when responding to the call.

Ohio Edison, Dominion Energy and the Water Department were all contacted to help manage utilities. There were no injuries in the incident.

The second fire occurred at the 2100 block of 9th Street Southwest. Akron fire crews responded to calls of smoke showing from a two and a half story residential building.

The Akron Fire Department reported the fire under control at approximately 7:41 a.m. No injuries were reported as a result of this fire, either.

Both of these incidents remain under investigation by the Akron Fire Department.
