Power restored after nearly 10,000 outages reported in Akron: FirstEnergy updates

AKRON, Ohio — Thousands of people woke up without electricity in Summit County on Tuesday morning as FirstEnergy reported nearly 10,000 power outages impacting Akron as of 6 a.m.

FirstEnergy tells 3News all impacted customers in Akron "were back up and running" by 7:40 a.m. We're told the outages were caused by an issue with a transformer.

At one point, FirstEnergy’s outage map listed the number of power outages in Akron at 9,543.
