2 die in separate weekend shootings in Akron

One victim is a 36-year-old man, while the other is a 34-year-old woman.

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Police Department and Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating two deadly shootings that happened during the weekend.

The first was reported around 3:15 p.m. Saturday when officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Wildwood Avenue. That’s where authorities say they found a 36-year-old man on a driveway with a gunshot wound to the torso.

He was taken to an Akron hospital where he later died at 3:58 p.m.

Investigators say there was "some type of altercation between the victim and the shooter" in the moments before the deadly shooting.

Police say 36-year-old Dontae Foster later surrendered to authorities and charged with murder.
