20 more coronavirus cases confirmed in Cleveland; Mayor Frank Jackson addresses the city

The city now has 148 cases of COVID-19, with two deaths.

CLEVELAND — Officials in Cleveland have confirmed 20 additional residents have now tested positive for coronavirus, ranging in age from their 20s to their 80s.

This brings the total number of cases in the city to 148, with two deaths. That number is higher that all but six of Ohio's 88 counties, and accounts for a sizable portion of Cuyahoga County's 663 cases.

Mayor Frank Jackson formally updated the public on the city's response to the COVID-19 pandemic Friday morning alongside local health officials and other leaders, including Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams.

Here are some key highlights from Friday morning's city press conference:

As of this moment, city officials are speaking with Gov. Mike DeWine's administration to determine if Ohio National Guard members will be used for tasks such as passing out food or organizing medical needs. Potential sites for extra hospital spaces are also being looked at.

There are currently just over 2,900 cases of coronavirus in Ohio, including 81 deaths. The entire state remains under a stay-at-home order through at least May 1.
