Cleveland Police: dead body found in duplex unit; foul play suspected

Residents of the second floor unit in the duplex had reported a foul odor coming from the downstairs unit to police.

CLEVELAND — At approximately 1:18 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, Cleveland Police responded to reports of a suspected dead body at a duplex on the 15300 block of Yorick Avenue.

Residents of the second floor unit in the duplex had reported a foul odor coming from the downstairs unit to police.

The Cleveland Fire Department assisted officers in entering the residence. Their search resulted in an unidentified dead body being found wrapped in a sheet.

The Homicide Unit was dispatched for investigation. 

According to a preliminary investigation, it was revealed that officers had responded to the area on the evening of Thursday, November 10 for reports of shots being fired. 

No suspects or victims were located at that time. Cleveland Police have not indicated whether the two incidents are related.

This remains under investigation.
