Flags for Honor line path at Edgewater Park for Patriot Day Weekend; GALLERY

More than four hundred flags now line the path to the Edgewater beach pavilion

CLEVELAND — Patriot Day is celebrated annually on September 11 in honor of those who lost their lives on that fateful day in 2001.

In memory of those who passed away, The FBI Cleveland Citizens Academy Alumni Association is lining the path to the beach pavilion at Edgewater Park with flags during Patriot Day Weekend 2020.

More than four hundred flags now line the path to the Edgewater beach pavilion for Patriot Day Weekend September 11-13. The project is sponsored by the FBI Cleveland Citizens Academy Alumni Association and 50% of proceeds from flag sales benefit Medworks and Medwish and their efforts on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic

Volunteers placed the flags Thursday morning, including a solitary one at half-staff in memory of Cleveland Police Detective James Skernivitz. His photo is at the base of it. Each flag has a medallion attached recognizing a specific individual. The flags honor healthcare workers, law enforcement, military, firefighters and others from around the world. Honorees are also recognized year-round in the Virtual Flag Dedication where they are acknowledged on the interactive Honoree Map here
