An affordable housing project coming to Cleveland by The NRP Group and University Hospitals

Mixed-income housing and critical support services will be brought to the Glenville neighborhood of Cleveland.

CLEVELAND — Ground has officially broken on a 52-unit mixed-income, multifamily community in an effort to provide more affordable housing in the Glenville neighborhood of Cleveland.

The NPR Group will collaborate with University Hospitals (UH) in a joint effort to build the apartment complex. UH’s headquarters are located just one mile away from the housing location.

University Hospitals plans to develop a 2,800 square-foot Community Outreach Center to help provide health care, healthy cooking demonstrations, health wellness education, food pantry services, programs for pregnant women and young mothers, financial training literacy and more to the surrounding community.

“By viewing the neighborhood, itself as a patient to be healed, health and housing developments provide high-quality affordable housing as a means to bring critical supportive services to both residents and the broader community,” said Scott Skinner, Vice President of Development at The NRP Group. “These, such as career development training, health screenings and finance counseling, are not readily available within underserved neighborhoods. We look forward to working with the City of Cleveland and University Hospitals to bring this project to fruition and to address the most pressing needs of the Glenville community.”

The future housing unit will be called “The Davis Apartments”, named after Harry E. Davis who served four consecutive terms in the Ohio State House before becoming the first African American member of Cleveland Civil Service Commission and then serving as an Ohio State Senator.

This is The NRP Group’s third “health and housing” project with the first opening in Columbus in 2018 and the second in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood of Cleveland set to open this later this year.

Availability for early release sign ups is expected to occur in 2023 with 2024 serving as the expected completion date for the apartments.
