Officials seek information on Bedford arson fire; $5,000 reward available

A home exploded and caught fire in December 2021.

BEDFORD, Ohio — *Editor's Note: The video in the player above is from a previous, unrelated report. 

The Division of State Fire Marshal's Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau is seeking tips from the public regarding an intentionally set fire at a vacant single- family home in Bedford. 

On December 30, 2021 around 7:30am, the Bedford Fire Department responded to a reported explosion and extensive fire damage to a home at in the 300 block of Marion Drive.

At the scene, fire crews that all of home's doors were locked, but a window had been removed prior to the fire. Investigator with the State Fire Marshal found that sections of  the water and gas lines had been removed from the basement and other evidence that indicated the fire had been intentionally set inside the home.

The investigation is being conducted by the State Fire Marshal and Bedford Fire Department.  A reward of up to $5,000.00 is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the arrest and  conviction of  the person or persons responsible for these fires.
