A Madison Township assisted living facility administrator is facing abuse charges, after police say an 85-year-old patient at the facility died.
The female patient was transported to Lake Hospital Madison Emergency Department from Hubbard Road Meadows Assisted Living on January 3, when the 'incident' happened, Madison Township Detective Doyle tells WKYC's Hilary Golston.
The patient died Tuesday, police report.
A press release indicates the Lake County Coroner's office will review the case and determine a cause of death.
However, the Lake County Coroner's office tells Golston that, because the patient died in Cuyahoga County, that office will determine the cause of death.
WKYC Channel 3 reached out the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office. No one was immediately available to speak about the case.
While Doyle was unwilling to divulge specifics about what occurred, he tells Golston it was likely 'physical' in nature.
Police say their investigation has been aided by employees. Family members of patients have also come forward with details about other incidents, now being investigated.
This past Friday the 13th, Madison Township police arrested Alice Ramsey,54, on the fourth degree felony charge of patient abuse before the patient died.
A worker at the facility says they've been advised not to speak with the media about the incident but divulged the home is a small facility with only about 14 beds.
Before the incident, Doyle says his department was unaware of any complaints at the facility.
However, he noted complaints may have been lodged with an ombudsman through the Lake County Children/Adult services.
WKYC Channel 3 reached out to the agency. No one was immediately available to address possible previous complaints.
Doyle encourages anyone with information to reach out to police about alleged abuse at Hubbard Road Meadows or other facilities in Madison Township.
