Legal Aid Society of Cleveland to host annual 'Jam for Justice' fundraiser September 22 virtually

The annual fundraiser will be held online rather than in person due to COVID concerns and incoming weather

CLEVELAND — *Editor's Note: The video in the player above is from a previous report on the fundraiser, and this story has been updated to reflect that "Jam For Justice" will now take place exclusively online

The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland has announced updated details for its annual "Jam for Justice" fundraiser, as the event will now take place virtually rather than in person.

The family-friendly event is set to take place on Wednesday, September 22, with live performances streamed from inside the Great Lakes Science Center. The concert will feature law students, attorneys, judges and their professional colleagues to moonlight as rock stars, alongside established bands, with 3News legal analyst Stephanie Haney and DJ Brad Wolfe co-hosting the event.

While the organizers had hoped to host an in-person option for those who feel comfortable attending gatherings, rising COVID-19 numbers in Ohio and impending weather expected for Wednesday have changed those plans.

Instead, those who purchase tickets are invited to stop by the Great Lakes Science Center between 5 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. to pick up a to-go food and drink box to enjoy at home while watching the livestream, in lieu of the dinner and drinks that would have been provided at an in-person show.

If you can’t make the livestream but still want to show your support, a generous donor is matching up to $7,500 in donations through Thursday. Find out more about donating here.

Performers at this year's event include the following:

  • Faith & Whiskey
  • Luke Lindberg and Hung Jury
  • The No Name Band
  • Out of Order
  • Razing the Bar
  • SIX sometimes SEVEN
  • State Road

As the state continues to tackle the ongoing global pandemic, the event is now being offered exclusively online. Those looking to support the Legal Aid Society's mission and fundraiser, can do so in two different ways:

  • Make a gift at http://www.lasclev.org/donate or by texting "LAS GIFT" to 216-242-1544 •
  • Join the livestream for the event, with tickets available here, which can be purchased now through the end of the performances at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday

"Jam for Justice" is made possible with the help of presenting sponsors Accellis Technology Group and Platinum Sponsors Taft/ and Tucker Ellis LLP as well as a host of local supporters. 3News is serving as media partner for the event.

Stephanie will talk with a representative from the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland live, from behind the scenes at "Jam For Justice," on Wednesday's episode of "What's New" at 5 p.m.

In 2020, the Legal Aid Society provided assistance to nearly 15,000 Northeast Ohioans who were facing evection, unemployment, educational barriers and more.
