Police: Body found in wooded area on Ford Road identified as missing Elyria man

ELYRIA, Ohio — An investigation is underway after the body of a missing man was found in Elyria.

Elyria police say that on Thursday, Feb. 8, at around 5:24 p.m., officers responded to a report of a body in a wooded area near the 1100 block of Ford Road. 

Upon arriving, officers secured the scene and notified detectives. The Lorain County Coroner's Office and police are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the individual's death. 

On Monday, the Lorain County Coroner's Office identified the body as Walter Moody Jr. Moody had been reported as missing by the Elyria Police Department on Aug. 30, 2023 after having last been seen by his family three days earlier.
