Happy National Pierogi Day: Betsy Kling and Mike Polk Jr. celebrate from Rudy's Strudel and Bakery in Parma

Betsy Kling and Mike Polk Jr. went out to get a taste of the fun ahead of this weekend's party.

PARMA, Ohio — October 8 is National Pierogi Day, and if you're from Cleveland, you already know that the pierogi is the unofficial official food of Cleveland.

Rudy's Strudel is just one of the retailers hosting a big party to celebrate this weekend.

Also on that list is The Current Year, which is a record store next door to Rudy's. It is celebrating its first anniversary since opening, so the two teamed up to party.

There will be sampling, records, trivia, giveaways, special appearances, and much more!

National Pierogi Day may be Friday, but the party continues on into Saturday in the parking lot of the businesses. Things get underway there at 11 a.m., and will feature Rudy's Strudel, Fat Head's Brewery, The Tomato Guys food truck, Brayson's Ice Cream truck, giveaways from Melt Bar & Grilled & Future Children, DJ Mike One and of course, records and music from The Current Year.

We here at WKYC know how much Betsy Kling and Mike Polk Jr. love a party, especially a pierogi party, so we sent them out to Parma to talk to owner of Rudy's and pierogi expert, Lidia Trempe. Trempe told them all about pierogis and also showed them how to make the delectable treat.
