Cuyahoga County Jail inmate dies following medical emergency

The inmate was taken by EMS to MetroHealth after a medical emergency at the jail.

CLEVELAND — An investigation is underway after an inmate at the Cuyahoga County Jail died following a medical emergency.

Cuyahoga County officials say that the inmate experienced a medical emergency on Friday, Oct. 6, at the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center. The inmate was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center by Cleveland EMS where he was later pronounced dead.

At this time, the inmate's death is being investigated by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department, Cleveland Division of Police and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
