LOUDONVILLE, Ohio — Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating today after a crash in Loudonville that resulted in serious injuries.

According to officials, the incident began early Sunday morning when troopers with the Mansfield Post received a call about a reckless driver on IR-71 North, near milepost 151.

The vehicle, driven by Maple Heights resident Eduardo Albert Osorio-Samperio, was found by troopers around 3:30 a.m. and was pulled over near milepost 175. After Osorio-Samperio was stopped by OSHP, the driver took off as a trooper approached his vehicle. A pursuit ensued and the Maple Heights resident continued on IR-71 North and exited at U.S. 30.

The driver then took SR 60 South into the Village of Loudonville where he eventually lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the McMullen Elementary School.

The man was treated at the scene by Loudonville EMS and taken to the Mansfield Ohio Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol say Osorio-Samperio was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and that alcohol does seem to have played into the incident.

The incident remains under investigation by OSHP, Ashland County Sheriff's Department, and the Loudonville Police Department.
