3 hurt when car crashes into exam room at Summa Health Medical Center in Green

The vehicle struck the hospital and crashed into an exam room that was occupied by a female patient and her husband. Both were treated for injuries.

GREEN, Ohio — The situation began with 911 calls around 2:45 p.m. Thursday reporting an Acura swerving in the southbound lanes of I-77 near Arlington Road.

When authorities responded, Summit County deputies found the vehicle had driven off the interstate, down an embankment, through a fence and into the side of the Summa Health Medical Center building in Green.

In details released Friday morning about the crash, authorities say the vehicle struck the hospital and slammed into an exam room that was occupied by a female patient and her husband. Both were treated for injuries.

The driver, a 37-year-old Canton man, was taken to Akron City Hospital with undisclosed injuries. He’s facing charges pending the outcome of the investigation.

Authorities say suspected drugs were found inside the vehicle.
