GREEN, Ohio — A 42-year-old woman was pulled from a vehicle Monday afternoon when she became trapped inside due to downed wires following a crash in Summit County.

It was shortly before 2 p.m. when deputies arrived at the scene near Cottage Grove Road and East Canton Road in the city of Green and found the driver entrapped. The Summit County Sheriff’s Office says she was extricated from the vehicle within 15 minutes with the assistance of Ohio Edison.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation showed the driver was traveling northbound on Cottage Grove Road when her vehicle went off the roadway, through several residential yards and into a ditch.

“Her vehicle left a debris field approximately 1/4 mile long,” according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. “Her vehicle then struck a utility pole, causing an interruption of power services in the area and damage to the pole.”

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital, but authorities say she did not report any injuries at the time of the crash.

“It appears alcohol may be a factor in the crash,” according to the sheriff’s department. “Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.”
