Police officer shot at Willoughby Hills car dealership returns to work

The other officer involved is not back on the job yet, but is expected to return.

A police officer shot at a Willoughby Hills car dealership has returned to work.

Officer Craig Anderson returned to work Friday, after being shot while on duty back in September 2017.

Anderson and another officer were both injured when 30-year-old Timmothy Schmidt opened fired inside of Classis BMW on September 28.

According to reports, Schmidt was at the dealership to have his car serviced and became enraged over his bill, pulling a gun on employees.

Schmidt was also shot during the exchange of gunfire with the officers.

Officer Anderson says while it was a journey, he's glad to be back.

"It was a little emotional. it was my first day back in 4 months but i am thankful i could come back. it never crossed your mind not to come back? no I knew I was coming back."

The other officer, Corey Planisek, is not back on the job yet, but is expected to return.
