CLEVELAND — We asked, and you answered (in a big, big way).

WKYC will be in Lake County Friday night for our High School Football Game of the Week between Chardon and Painesville Riverside. The matchup was the resounding winner in our weekly poll, taking home 69% of the vote.

The two-time defending Division III state champion Hilltoppers (3-0) will look to continue their 31-game winning streak behind the running of Andrew Bruce and the defensive skills of Leo Colombi. Mitch Hewitt's squad was previously featured in our Week 1 Game of the Week, taking down Olmsted Falls 14-7.

Further north, the Beavers (2-1) are raising eyebrows with an impressive start, thumping Perry and Aurora before losing to Mentor 7-6 on a missed field goal last Friday. Senior Jake Elly leads the offense with 285 receiving yards and two touchdowns on the season so far.

Chardon beat Riverside 28-7 last year, which was actually one of the closer games in its run to the state crown. The Hilltoppers have won three in a row over the Beavers, with the last loss coming back in 2018.

This year, 3News will be presenting our Game of the Week during "What's Next" every Friday night, and you have the chance to pick where we travel. We'll announce our four nominees during "Sports Tonight" on Sunday evening and open the voting until noon on Thursday. Our crew will then head to the winning game on Friday, with Nick Camino showcasing expanded highlights of all the action at 11:20 p.m.

We'll see you tonight in Painesville!
