3News' Dave Chudowsky: It's time for Beyond the Dugout. Oscar Mercado joins me now. Have you ever been Beyond the Dugout? Like is this a weird feeling?
Indians' Oscar Mercado: Um, No.
Chudowsky: No, you're OK with this?
Mercado: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Chudowsky: All right, I just want to make sure because it can get confusing. I mean where else do you get questions like do you like chicken or fish better?
Mercado: Yeah, I’m a chicken guy.
Chudowsky: Well let's take it a step further... Chicken or beef?
Mercado: Beef.
Chudowsky: Beef… OK favorite beef meal?
Mercado: Probably like a beef stir-fry.
Chudowsky: Oh man, that sounds good. Are you fast food guy at all?
Mercado: I like fast food, but I try not to eat it.
Chudowsky: Yeah, that’s good. Which one, though? What's your go-to fast food?
Mercado: If I had to choose, Five Guys.
Chudowsky: Five Guys, oh yes! McDonald's or Burger King?
Mercado: Actually, how about this… (pause) Wendy's.
Chudowsky: Yes! I like that. Where's the beef? Right. So, yeah. Favorite thing to do on an off day?
Mercado: I got a couple things, probably. I got kind of into golf this off season. I'm not any good, but I enjoy being out there. It's fun, but especially with the guys and then we're just sitting at home playing video games or talking to my parents.
Chudowsky: Golf's a tough sport to get into when you don't start young, right?
Mercado: Yeah, but you know sometimes you have those good days I keep making you come back.
Chudowsky: It’s one shot, you can have one shot in a day, and it brings you back, right?
Mercado: Yeah.
Chudowsky: Past celebrity crush?
(pause)
Chudowsky: Oh boy, have you had a lot? Or you just can't remember the one?
Mercado: Probably Megan Fox.
Chudowsky: Yeah, OK. yeah that's good. First concert you ever went to?
Mercado: Kanye West.
Chudowsky: Favorite group or artist?
Mercado: Probably Ozuna.
Chudowsky: We'll end with this biggest influence in your life?
Mercado: My parents!
Chudowsky: It seems like a no-brainer?
Mercado: Yeah!
Chudowsky: Is there something that they did that really stood out to you?
Mercado: Just the way they raised us, the way they went about everything. Their work ethic and the sacrifices they made for us is just something that really showed us like the true value of family.
Chudowsky: Absolutely. Was this OK?
Mercado: Yeah, that was good.
