Cleveland Indians' third base coach Mike Sarbaugh reveals his funniest story about Terry Francona: 'Beyond the Dugout'

We sat down with Cleveland Indians coach Mike Sarbaugh for 'Beyond the Dugout' in which he also tells us his favorite shows to binge.

CLEVELAND — Beyond the Dugout is back again virtually on Zoom. For years, 3News' morning anchor Dave Chudowsky has been interviewing Indians players, coaches and staff during Spring Training in Goodyear, Arizona. The segments air weekly on GO! in the morning on channel 3 and here on WKYC.com.

Due to the pandemic, Chudowsky did not travel to Arizona this year -- but that is not stopping him from asking the tough questions you want answered. Well, not really! The questions are fun and help fans get to know their favorite players better.

Chudowsky is throwing a curve ball this week by bringing back someone who has already gone Beyond the Dugout this year. There was so much to learn about Mike Sarbaugh that we needed an encore. Sarbaugh has been a member of the Indians organization since 1990 as a Minor League player, coach and manager, and is now in his ninth season on the Major League staff (eighth as third base coach; 32nd season in Indians organization since 1990). He is entering his 33rd season in professional baseball.

During Sarbaugh's nine seasons with Cleveland Minor League affiliates, his teams compiled winning records in each campaign, captured five league titles and qualified for the postseason seven times. He was named the International League Manager of the Year in 2011, the Baseball America Manager of the Year in 2010. Sarbaugh played six seasons of professional baseball, the last five as a member of the Indians organization. The 54-year-old coach is married to his wife, Nicole, and has three children. He holds a degree in Kinesiology from Lamar University.

Last time we talked about his strangest moment coaching third base and his performance in the movie Major League 2. To find out what his nickname is and why, his hilarious Tito Francona story and favorite shows to binge, you will have to watch the attached video at the top of this story.
