Cleveland Cavaliers allow most regulation points in team history in loss to Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder beat the Cavs 148-124 in Cleveland on Saturday afternoon.

CLEVELAND -- Some history was made inside Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday and not the kind the Cleveland Cavaliers were expecting.

Rather than LeBron James scoring his 30,000th career point, the Oklahoma City Thunder scored the most points the Cavs have given up in regulation in team history in a 148-124 blowout win over Cleveland.

The Cavs last surrendered 148 points in a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in 1972.

James scored 18 points and remains seven away from becoming just the seventh player to score 30,000 career points. He'll attempt to do so on Tuesday when the Cavs hit the road to face the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday.

What follows is a running recap of the game, complete with highlights and analysis.

Fourth quarter

5:50: Thunder 133, Cavs 105: LeBron leaves the game with 18 points as this one is all but over. James will have to wait until Tuesday at San Antonio to reach the 30K mark.

12:00: Thunder 114, Cavs 94: Thunder stretch their lead back to 20 entering the fourth as the only drama left appears to be whether or not LeBron gets the seven poitns he needs to get to 30,000.

Third quarter

2:12: Thunder 104, Cavs 92: Cavs remain in striking distance as LeBron (16 points) begins to heat up.

3:09: Thunder 102, Cavs 88: Cavs showing signs of life with LeBron converting an and-1. Still a full quarter to go, but it simply may be too little too late.

Second quarter

End of quarter: Thunder 76, Cavs 60: Cavs had trimmed the lead to 8, but it has since doubled thanks to the Thunder's firepower. Paul George already has 25 points, while Carmelo has 15 and Russell Westbrook is four assists away from a triple-double.

6:57: Thunder 50, Cavs 42: Cavs now showing their best ball movement of the day, as a short Derrick Rose shot cuts the Oklahoma City lead to just 8.

8:36: Thunder 48, Cavs 34: Thunder push their lead up to 14 following the return of Westbrook, who already has 8 points and 7 assists.

10:06: Thunder 43, Cavs 32: Cavs' bench unit bringing it back to life with a strong start to the second quarter. Cavs also benefitting from the Thunder mysteriously having all three members of its Big 3 on the bench.

First quarter

End of quarter: Thunder 43, Cavs 24: Cavs showing some signs of life toward the end of the quarter, but not enough to cut into what is already a 19-point deficit.

4:26: Thunder 33, Cavs 14: Massive boos raining down at The Q as the Thunder seem to be running the Cavs off the court. Cavs have no answer for Steven Adams, who has almost outscored the Cavs with 13 points.

6:58: Thunder 20, Cavs 12: Thunder just seem to have too much firepower for the Cavs, who are having trouble on both ends of the floor early.

8:56: Thunder 10, Cavs 5: Rough start for the Cavs, who fall behind early as the Thunder jump out on an 8-0 run. A Jae Crowder and-1, however, just helped Cleveland close the gap.
