Cleveland Cavaliers' C Tristan Thompson to miss several games with ankle sprain

His date of return will be based on his continued evaluations and recovery process.

Cleveland Cavaliers Center, Tristan Thompson will be out for multiple games, the team announced Sunday.

During the first half of Saturday's game against the Denver Nuggets, Thompson stepped on the heel of an opposing player. While Thompson was able to continue playing, he experience significant swelling overnight the franchise reported.

An evaluation later confirmed a right ankle sprain.

According to a release, Thompson will now undergo treatment and rehabilitation. He is expected to miss multiple games.

His date of return will be based on his continued evaluations and recovery process.

Thompson already missed about a month of play earlier in the season due to a calf strain.
