Eliot Wolf accepts job as Cleveland Browns assistant general manager

Wolf had served as a member of the Green Bay Packers front office since 2004.

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Browns picked up their first victory of the 2018 offseason on Wednesday. According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, longtime Green Bay Packers executive Eliot Wolf has accepted a job to join the Browns' front office, choosing Cleveland over an offer from the Oakland Raiders.

The team confirmed to WKYC that Wolf will serve as the Browns' assistant general manager.

The son of former Packers general manager Ron Wolf, Eliot Wolf had been a member of the Green Bay front office since 2004. It was there that he worked alongside new Browns general manager John Dorsey, who worked for the Packers from 1991-1998 and 2000-2012.

After joining the Green Bay staff as a pro personnel assistant, Wolf held several titles in his 14 seasons with the Packers, most recently serving as the director of football operations. He was considered for Green Bay's offseason opening at general manager following the departure of Ted Thompson, but the job ultimately went to Brian Gutekunst.

According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky the 35-year-old Wolf also held an offer to join the Raiders front office. Last week, the Browns reportedly hired another Packers front office executive, director of college scouting Alonzo Highsmith, although the team has yet to officially announce its hiring of the former Miami Hurricanes standout.
