NFL DRAFT RUMORS | Do Cleveland Browns prefer Wyoming QB Josh Allen over USC QB Sam Darnold?

Dan Patrick is hearing the Browns are more enamored with Wyoming QB Josh Allen than USC QB Sam Darnold

We are one month out from the 2018 NFL Draft if you can believe it.

Things are starting to get all kinds of interesting when it comes to the Cleveland Browns and who they may be targeting with the first overall pick.

NFL on NBC host Dan Patrick stated on his radio show that he is hearing that while the Browns like USC QB Sam Darnold, they love Wyoming QB Josh Allen. The belief, according to one of Patrick's sources, is that the Browns are trying to make it seem that they love Darnold in order to entice the Giants to trade up from No. 2 to 1.

"I think the Browns really like Josh Allen," said Patrick. "From my intel over the weekend, they love Allen. They've got Tyrod Taylor right now. And if they could get Josh Allen, get something from the Giants, and then also get Saquon Barkley, the Browns will be in great shape."

That's a lot to digest. But wait, there's more.

A current NFL scout said to Patrick that what he sees with Josh Allen's potential boils down to this: 'Imagine Ben Roethlisberger with mobility.'

Whoa. Maybe that's a bit of a reach, but it's interesting to take all of this in after last week's flurry of pro days and private workouts.

Keep another thing in mind: ESPN's longtime draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. has had the Browns taking Allen so far in his mock drafts.

Be prepared for a lot more of these rumors as we get closer and closer to the draft.
