A Painesville couple died of an apparent drug overdose Sunday with their 3-month-old daughter still in the home, the city said in a statement Thursday.
Authorities went to perform a welfare check on the family's West Jackson St. apartment late Sunday afternoon and found 29-year-old Matthew J. Jacquemain and his 25-year-old girlfriend Sarah K. Poorman both dead. The infant was found to be alive and healthy, and was released to the custody of her grandmother.
A custody hearing for the child is taking place this afternoon.

The city says both deaths appear to be drug related. The county coroner is still investigating.
